As stated by the World Health Organisation (WHO), breast cancer alone caused 670,000 deaths globally in 2022. Breast cancer is also the most common cancer found in 175 countries. With a number this high, there is a fair likelihood that 1 in every 12 women carries the risk of developing breast cancer at some stage of their life, regardless of the other risk factors that are pointed out. Breast cancer is mostly diagnosed in older women, as that is one of the significant risk factors. And yes, while this statistical data is no short of a nightmare if these cancers are detected early, they are very much treatable. Arimidex 1mg tablets are often used with other methods, such as surgery or radiation, to treat the early stages of breast cancer. In this blog, we will be exploring more about the Arimidex 1mg Tablets and also about how one can detect early stages of cancer at home.
Hormone receptor-positive breast cancers’ growth and maintenance is supported by the production of estrogen and progesterone. Generic Anastrozole (Arimidex) tablets, when ingested, lower the estrogen production in the body, cutting the supply to the cancer and inhibiting its growth. It belongs to a drug class known as aromatase inhibitors. It works by stopping the conversion of adrenal androgens (usually found in post-menopausal women) to estrogen in the tumor tissues and the tissues surrounding it, thereby lowering estrogen in the body. This medication is administered orally only.

Anastrozole may cause significant harm to a fetus. It is necessary to have a negative pregnancy test if you are considering taking this medication. It is also recommended not to breastfeed for at least 2 weeks after your last dose.

Performing a breast self-exam every month, about 3-5 days after your periods, is a very effective way of detecting the early signs of breast cancer. If you’ve reached menopause, do it at the same time every month. Here’s how to perform this test:
Lie down flat on your back and place your right hand behind your head. With two fingers of your left hand, gently yet firmly press down and examine your entire breast. Perform circular motions with your fingers to feel for any lumps or irregularities in your breasts.
Sit down or stand up and feel the tissues in your armpits as the breast tissues extend to that region.
Gently squeeze the nipple to look for any kind of discharge. Then, repeat the entire process on the left breast.
Look at your breasts in the mirror with your arms by your side. Check for any irregularities such as puckering, dimples forming, indents, or anything else that was not previously seen on the breast.
Note the shape and outline of each breast, and make sure there are no irregularities.
Check to see if the nipples are turned inwards.
Doing this will help you to detect any irregularities in your breasts, such as lumps, dents, or changes in your breast color or shape. The goal is to understand your breast anatomy properly so that it is easier to point out any differences.
If you do find something different, make sure you talk to your physician about it. If they say that it's nothing to worry about and you’re still anxious about it, consider seeking a second opinion.
Breast cancer is most commonly found in women over the age of 45. 62 is the median age that has been analyzed through the data. This means that 50% of the population that has breast cancer are women between the age of 45 – 62. Dealing with this situation can be overwhelming and often nerve-wracking due to the process one has to go through to treat it. Arimidex 1mg tablets and other generic Anastrozole 1mg tablets have played an essential role in treating early stages of cancer. Women all around the world should be made aware of breast cancer and should be educated on ways to detect it sooner so that it can be treated with minimally invasive or non-invasive methods. The breast cancer awareness drive is already spread far and wide. While many people don’t discuss it due to its taboo nature in many countries, it is crucial to break that wall and move further with the movement.
